UNILAG MATRICULATES 11,885 UNDERGRADUATES FOR 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION

At the Jelili Omotola Multipurpose Halls, on Friday, February 11, 2022, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, charged the 11,885 newly admitted students of the 2021/2022 Academic Session to dominate.

In his address to them, he encouraged them to be prepared to own and take charge of their journey to becoming distinguished alumni of the University of Lagos and great citizens of Nigeria.

“Be prepared to take dominion of your journey to becoming great citizens of Nigeria. To do that, you will have to be diligent, determined, and focused”, he said.

Professor Ogundipe, FAS, reiterated the determination of the University of Lagos to raise leaders who go ahead to make local and global impacts. “You have to make up your minds now to be numbered among those great leaders who proceed from here to make remarkable contributions to the nation and the world at large. You must know that you have come here to conquer!”, the Vice-Chancellor declared.

He wished the students well in their sojourn at UNILAG, and charged them to always be good ambassadors of their families.

Philanthropic Interlude

Thes highlight of the event was the donation and presentation of over 3,000 units of computer tablets to selected indigent and physically challenged students of the University of Lagos by Dr. Jim Ovia, Founder and Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc.

He was represented at the event by an Executive Director of Zenith Bank Plc, Mr. Dennis Olisa, who expressed delight at being on hand to make the presentations on behalf of his principal, as an individual, and the Jim Ovia Foundation as a body.

A Blissful Ending

The Matriculation Ceremony was well-attended by students and their respective

families and friends. All the other Principal Officers of the university were also on hand to grace the occasion. The Registrar, Oladejo Azeez, Esq. moderated proceedings; and an Assistant Registrar, Mr. Oluwaseun Ajidagba, compered the event to the delight and amusement of all.
