TIPS TO KNOW BEFORE PROCESSING LASU ADMISSION

LASU, an heavily sought after and highly rated institution has over the years faced series of competition as candidates struggle to make it to this institution. To these effect, the following guidelines will help you in securing your admission successfully in LASU:

1. WHAT IS LASU CUT-OFF MARK

LASU GENERAL CUT OFF MARK FOR ALL COURSES IS 190: As at today, LASU’s general cut off mark irrespective of courses remains 190  but this is not for candidates to relax and make such low a mark as LASU being a world class highly competitive University will always seek to award the best of the best admission first so the Glory of the school will continue to soar high.

P.S: anything lower than 190 is a NO!!!

2. WILL I NEED TO PUT LASU AS FIRST CHOICE?

YOU MUST HAVE MADE LASU YOUR FIRST CHOICE DURING YOUR UTME REGISTRATION: This is a very important factor that must be noted and treated as urgent. LASU will NEVER accept a candidate who has made her institution a second choice (probably you must have heard the slogan, “we’re LASU, We’re Proud”

3. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR LASU ADMISSION ??

CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS FIVE CREDIT PASSES IN RELEVANT COURSES IN O LEVEL RESULT: This is also a very important factor in LASU admission processing. To qualify for LASU admission screening, applicant must have scores ranging from A1 to C6 in all relevant courses relating to his/her course of study.

LASU HAS TWO MODE OF ENTRY FOR UTME CANDIDATES: In 2019, LASU introduced a programme for entry into LASU called STREAM 2, it was indeed the beginning of a remarkable era in LASU history. This mode on activation rendered her former entry mode STREAM 1 thereby making entry to LASU for UTME candidates 2 modes. What differs the STREAM 2 from that of the latter is that it offers her student two certificate on graduation, one for the candidates chosen course and the other for an enterpreneural skill the candidate must have chosen on entry. This enterpreneural skills are over 70 including Photography, Web designing and digital marketing, Event planning, Cake and pastries, Shoe making and many more. Reports shows that a students who gets admitted via this platform has the licence to choose different enterpreneural courses of her choice per session.

Sounds interesting you know…

However, it should be noted that there’s is difference in her fees. While stream 1 school fees is N57,048.50, that of stream 2 is N150,000 per session (year).

Candidates are given the licence to choose either of the stream upon registration.

P.S: YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CHOOSE THE BOTH STEAMS AT A TIME. (Visit LASU Admission portal for more information on this).

It’s also pertinent you note that upon Admission via stream 2, the validity of the Admission is on a first come, first served basis. The stream 2 platform has limited slots and based on the traffic it usually drives, the university retains the validity of the admission of only those who pay 75% of their fees alongside the Medial and acceptance fee, this makes up N105,000. Failure to pay on time will lead to forfeiture of the candidate’s admission.

5. HOW DID LASU CONDUCT THEIR POST UTME??

LASU DOES NOT CONDUCT POST UTME EXAM BUT DOES SCREENING INSTEAD: LASU at the moment do not conduct POST UTME exam but does an online screening instead. This screening is an automatic calculation of your O level alongside your UTME result. Below is a breakdown of how it’s calculated:

A1= 10,

B2=9,

B3=8,

C4=7,

C5=6,

C6=5.

Your relevant courses must be ranging from the above and is graded based on your score.

Then second to this is your UTME score. Your UTME score is divided by 8 and then added to what you scored in your O level.

Let’s give an example below:

HOW TO CALCULATE LASU POST-UTME

IBKINTELLECT wants to study mass communication in LASU, her relevant subjects are Mathematics, English Language, Government, Literature in English and CRS.

In Mathematics, she scored A1 which is 10, in English, she scored B3 which is 8, in her Government, she scored C4 which is 7, in her Literature, she scored B2 which is 9 and lastly in her CRS, she scored C6 which is 5.

Adding them all together, this gives us 39.

We then move ahead to calculate her UTME score where she scored 270 and divide it by 8. This gives us 33.75. the O level calculation which is 39 is then added to the of the UTME which is 33.75. her screening result also known as aggregate is 72.75. I hope we now understand how to calculate our screening result?

P.S: the higher the aggregate score, the higher the candidate’s chance of being admitted.

When all the above are fulfilled then the candidate alongside a glass of prayer can relax and expect admission.
