JOINT UNIVERSITIES PRELIMINARY EXAMINATIONS BOARD

CHEMISTRY PRACTICAL INSTRUCTION

The University should provide the under listed items per candidate for the practical examination.

All candidates should be reminded to come to the examination venue with

laboratory coats. This is mandatory.

1. A mixture of Na2SO4 and Fe2(SO4)3 mixed in the ratio 2: 3 by mass.

2. 2 moldm³ HCI

3. Filter paper

4. Distilled water

5. 1 boiling tube

6. 3 test tubes

7. 1 funnel

8. 2M AgNO3

9. 2 molar NaOH

10. 2 molar NH.OH

11.6 M HCI

12. Dropping pipette

13. Dissolve 5.28g Na2CO3 in 1000cm³ as Solution B

14. 0.1 M HCl as solution A

15. Methyl Orange

16. 25 cm³ pipette

17.25 cm³ or 50 cm³ burette

18. Conical flasks 250ml 2 per student

19. Beaker 250ml 2 per student

20. Barium chloride

21. Potassium hexacyanate ferrate(III) KsFe(CN)6
